Collette Olmsted

A native to Northern Michigan and residing in Traverse City, with

her dog and cat, Collette has been in

the beauty industry for three years as a nail technician and hair

stylist at Epiphany Salon and Environmental Retail Center.

She started her education at Bay Area Cosmetology Academy, where

she received a manicurist license, and later enrolled in Traverse Bay

Area Career Tech Center where she furthered her education in

cosmetology and received a license to practice Cosmetology.

Artists/Technicians in the beauty industry are required to stay current

with the latest fashion trends and colors. Collette remains up to date

on the latest hair designs and nail trends by attending classes, clinics

and workshops on Cosmetology and other related subjects such as:

Reflexology, Feng Shui, The MidwestShow, The International

Beauty Show, The Maly's Forum and others.

Collette has also been involved with the community through the

donation of her time and talents. Aveda's Project Daymaker

is a program which finances the touring of a crew in an RV that

travels from place to place, looking for stylists to donate time to

people that need a little time and attention. Last year (1997)

Collette donated a day to the Third Level Crisis Center,

cutting, coloring, nails and make up on women who are staying at

the center and are getting back on their feet and returning to the

work place, after surviving and healing from crisis. Collette plans

on working with Project Day maker again this year.

Collette also heads the educational workshops offered through

Epiphany Salon. Some of the classes facilitated by Collette and

offered through Epiphany are on subjects such as hair

care, nail care, couples stress relieving and infant massage.
